首長阿德南沙登強調，歷史課本內容應該重新編寫，不該出現偏重馬來族群，而忽視其他族群的現象。他昨晚接受第3電視台訪問時問道，為何歷史課本內容只注重馬來族群，卻淡化其他族群的成就和貢獻？

他說，目前的歷史教學並沒有1963年馬來西亞成立時的相關內容，這對東馬砂拉越和沙巴並不公平。他說，歷史的片面教學，促使砂州政府極力爭取教育自主權。

Chief Minister Adenan Satem said history text books used in schools must be rewritten so that they do not only focus on the Malays and the peninsular.

「Why concentrate only on the history of the Malays? What about the other races?」 he asked on TV3's Soal Jawab talk show last night.
