KUALA LUMPUR, July 16, 2015:

The Sessions Court granted Armed Forces Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Baharom, or better known as Ali Tinju, RM8,000 bail over a charge for making racist remarks prior to a brawl in front of Low Yat Plaza on Sunday.

Ali Tinju appeared before Sessions judge Jagjit Singh Bant Singh this morning and was charged for committing an offence under section 4(1)(b) of Sedition Act 1948.

According to the charge sheet, he allegedly delivered a speech laced with racist remarks around 8.30pm in front of Low Yat Plaza.

Among the remarks made were 「Okay, kita mahukan keadilan, ini adalah maruah budak budak Melayu, bukan kerana seekor, budak cina serang ramai ramai budak Melayu…」 (Okay, we want justice, this is about the dignity of Malay youths, not because one Chinese boy attacked many Malay youths…」 and 「Ini adalah bumi bumi Melayu」 (This is the Malay land.)

Ragunath Kesavan represented Ali Tinju while deputy public prosecutor S. Ravindran prosecuted.
