他終於也懂得講人話了？東姑安南今日痛斥馬來商人只會坐等政府拿湯匙喂他們吃飯！妒忌華人成就卻不反省自己無能！你們全是爛泥扶不上壁！

東姑安南嚴厲批評馬來商人什麼都不願做，一點貢獻也沒有；但是當看到勤奮的華人取得豐厚成果卻又憤怒妒忌；完全沒有想到他們的條件遠遠比華人更優越卻一事無成，問題是在他們自己！
《當政府把一些重要職位和工程交給華人的時候，你們就跳腳，高調反對這個反對那個，硬是要政府取消原意將工程交給你們，可是你們從來不反省，你們有能力完成這些工程嗎？你們只會想著這些工程值得多少錢，一心想著從中發財，可是你們卻從來不去想你們的能力夠不夠？你們有沒有能力按照規定的日期完成？你們的水準做得到嗎？》
也是巫統總秘書兼聯邦直轄區部長的東姑安南表達他的憂慮；他擔心長此下去，馬來民族將會被時代的發展邊緣化。
他說：《我不知道你們（指馬來商人）的問題出在哪裡？或許你們是被政府寵壞了嗎？是不是因為政府長期無條件扶助你們，反而養成了你們不思進取、不勞而獲的懶散心態？是政府錯了嗎？》
東姑安南同時痛心疾首的說：《我看到華裔商人非常團結，他們懂得凝聚大家的力量共同創造無限商機；他們懂得分工合作，齊心協力完成各種大工程大計劃；可是我也看到馬來商家卻如同一盤散沙，個個自私自利，只會為自己著想，有好處只想到獨吞，不懂得與他人分享；這樣的心態怎麼可能成功？》
東姑安南是在一項馬來商人主辦的活動上受邀致辭時，發表以上談話。他說：《這是我的肺腑之言，我知道有些人不會喜歡聽到這些話，但我講的都是事實！看到政府盡心盡力扶助馬來商人數十年，馬來商人直到今天不但還是不懂自強自愛，反而變成了懶惰散漫、不思進取，只想坐吃金山銀山，總是想不勞而獲的墮落民族，我非常痛心！》
東姑安南炮轟那些把政府的資助當做理所當然的馬來商人的行為可恥；他說，馬來人獲得政府免費發給土地；免息貸款做生意；免費培訓；免費鋪排創造各種商機，甚至無條件提供免攤還的創業資金；這些條件都遠遠比華人印度人強太多了；但是幾十年下來，馬來人的經濟條件不但還是沒顯著改善，反而培養出更多好吃懶做的馬來人！
這些好吃懶做的馬來人沒有錢就向政府伸手要錢，拿了錢就去揮霍，買各種奢侈品；出國吃風，過著舒服的日子；完全沒有好好利用這些金錢去創業，去經營生意，去為長遠的未來好好打算。他們只想著花光了金錢都不用還債，沒錢了繼續向政府伸手要錢。
所謂長貧難顧，一旦國際經濟形勢嚴峻，政府財務吃緊，再也沒能力無限量供應金錢給他們揮霍了，他們就埋怨政府不照顧他們了，政府沒有幫助他們脫貧了；他們看到勤奮的華人依靠自己的努力改善生活，日子過得舒服了就妒忌怨恨，加上有心人故意挑撥說華人掠奪馬來人的商機云云，莫名其妙的憎恨華人、仇視華人。卻從來不去反思自己的經濟困境完全是自己造成的。
他說，政府免費將土著保留地交給馬來人，是希望馬來人懂得自己設法去將土地發展起來；但是很遺憾的，他卻發現絕大多數獲得土地的馬來人卻完全不願動腦筋，任由土地荒蕪；他們全都是一個心思，就是希望未來土地增值了就變賣；或者找到華裔發展商將土地高價變賣，坐享其成，做一個不必流一滴汗就發大財的阿里巴巴。
《這種要不得的思想再不改變，馬來民族還談什麼未來？》他說。
Ku Nan calls Bumi entrepreneurs a 『spoon-fed』 lot
FT minister Tengku Adnan says Bumiputeras are individualistic, in comparison with non-Bumi entrepreneurs who are able to develop a comprehensive network to assist each other.
PETALING JAYA: Tengku Adnan Mansor has hit out at Bumiputera entrepreneurs labelling them a 「spoon-fed」 lot as they lacked resilience and competitiveness, theSun reported.
The federal territories minister also hinted that Putrajaya may be to blame for this malaise.
「I don』t know, maybe it is our fault. Maybe we have been spoon-feeding all of you,」 he was quoted as saying at the Federal Territories Bumiputera Economic Empowerment programme certificate presentation yesterday.
Tengku Adnan, or Ku Nan, as he is fondly referred to, said while some may not like what he had to say, he was merely 「speaking from the heart」 as he was saddened to see his race in such a situation.
The Putrajaya lawmaker also lamented the attitude of Bumiputera entrepreneurs who took the assistance provided by the government lightly and were nonchalant when it came to improving their economic situation.
「Some think that it is alright to suffer losses since they had received money from the government. They ask for loans, but the money is not used to start their own business.」
He went on to point out that land given to the Bumiputera community for free by the government had not been used for any proper development projects.
Instead, he claimed that the Bumiputeras just waited for the land value to increase before selling the land.
「When we give it to the Chinese, people get angry, but the Malays do not perform.」
Ku Nan, who is also the Umno secretary-general, said he was perplexed by the fact that non-Bumiputera entrepreneurs had developed a comprehensive network to assist each other, yet no such efforts were made by the Bumiputera community.
「All the Bumiputeras want is to be individualistic.」
He then urged the Bumiputera community to change their mindset to become competitive.
