The cost of delivering a baby has always come up in conversations between mums-to-be and mums. It’s certainly not cheap if one chooses to go with private hospitals. It also largely depends on which hospital we are talking about, which gynae is delivering (their charges may vary even if they』re from the same hospital), what room type you stay in, the drugs/painkillers (epidural/pethidine) you may take, whether you will be inducing (Pitocin drips) your baby, normal/cesarean birth, other arising medical conditions, and how many days you』ll be staying in the hospital.
The estimated cost for normal delivery in private hospitals are estimated at RM3,000 – RM7,000 and elective cesarean at RM6,000 – RM12,000. Delivering in government hospitals varies from RM60 – RM2,000; whether you opt to go with their Full Paying Patient (FPP) scheme. So how much does it really cost to deliver a baby in KL, Selangor and Putrajaya?

The cost to deliver a baby in KL, Selangor and Putrajaya has gone up due to inflation and are exorbitant if you』re delivering in a private hospital. Whether to deliver your baby in a private or government hospital is entirely you and your spouse’s decision. At the end of the day, what matters most is mums and bubs are both safe and healthy.
