KUCHING: A helicopter carrying government officials travelling from Betong to Kuching has been reported missing, according to the Civil Aviation Department.

Radar contact with the helicopter was lost at approximately 5pm today (May 5). It’s last location was Sebuyau.
It departed from Betong at around 4.30pm.
Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) Datuk Noriah Kasnon is believed to be on board, along with five others, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

They are helicopter pilot Captain Rudolf Rex Ragas, Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil, Noriah’s husband Asmuni Abdullah, MPIC secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Ann Amalai and Noriah’s bodyguard Ahmad Sobri.

Police and Fire and Rescue Department spokespersons said they are also waiting for reports from relevant sources.
