本田英國公司負責人Leon Brannan向媒體透露，CR-V車型將提升自身的產品定位，向更高端的方向演化。
為此，下一代CR-V將推出7座版本的四驅車型，競爭對手直接瞄準沃爾沃XC60和路虎發現系列。而本田CEO Takahiro Hachigo也於昨天表示，下一代CR-V和雅閣車型將具備更多的新技術和創新設計。
值得一提的是，CR-V絕非唯一一款正在策劃中的7座SUV，本田專為亞太市場研發的BR-V也將於今年的印尼車展首發。
Honda’s CR-V SUV has always sold reasonably well in the UK but not as well as German rivals such as the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. This could change, however, when the Japanese brand releases the new model in 2017.
The outgoing car has recently been facelifted so you can still get great deals on the current Honda CR-V by picking one in our car configurator. Nothing official is known about the new car yet but, thanks to a report by Autocar, we can get our first idea of what to expect.
The headline news is that, with the release of the new compact HR-V crossover, Honda wants to push the CR-V upmarket. It no longer want to compete with the likes of the Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Qashqai but, instead, face-off against the BMW X3 or the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The new CR-V could borrow design touches from the new HR-V and the Concept D
It』ll achieve this by making the CR-V bigger than the current car and by fitting seven seats as standard in the UK. It’s also likely that the car will feature four-wheel drive for all models to appeal to buyers wanting trouble-free, year-round performance.
There’s no word on what it』ll look like yet but it』ll almost certainly borrow some design aspects from Honda’s Concept D show car (shown above). A brutish yet angular face carries the brand’s logo at the front, while deep character lines give it shape down the sides and at the rear.
We expect it to borrow some design and components from the HR-V’s interior but it should make use of more upmarket materials to appeal to more discerning customers. This means the same touchscreen infotainment system is likely to feature.

Previous models were constructed at Honda’s plant in Swindon but it’s not been confirmed whether this』ll continue for the new version. Canada has been touted as a possible site considering the model’s popularity in North America.
2017 Honda CR-V specs
In the UK, the CR-V could borrow the efficient units fitted to the HR-V meaning a 118hp 1.6-litre diesel or a 128hp 1.5-litre petrol are possible. It’s also possible Honda will fit a version of the larger 2.2-litre diesel from elsewhere in its range or, with the work being done on the NSX supercar, it could even fit a hybrid system.
2017 Honda CR-V price and release date
As mentioned, nothing has been officially confirmed for the 2017 Honda CR-V but we expect it to cost more than the outgoing model to reflect the move upmarket. It could cost from just under £30,000 rising to £45,000 for top-spec versions. We know it』ll arrive in 2017 but Honda has yet to reveal when in the year it』ll go on sale.
