'Everyone knows Bruno!': Meet the dog who has been making a four-mile commute to town every day for 12 YEARS 'because he likes visiting the people'

Around sunrise each morning, a determined dog can be seen walking down a Minnesota highway, on his way to town.

The dog's name is Bruno, and he makes the four-mile journey from his home to the town of Longville in Cass County, which has a population of less than 200.

Bruno is as much a local as anyone else in Longville, even though he doesn't live there. That's because he has been making that same journey, every day, for the last 12 years.

'Everybody knows Bruno,' said local Sharon Rouse, who works at a realty office

And almost everyday, he does pretty much the same thing, starting with first stopping off at the deli for a snack of meat, which is happily provided out the back door by staff.

From there he goes to City Hall, the ice cream shop and the gas station.

'It's just been his routine as far back as I know,' Sharon Rouse, who watches Bruno arrive in town each day from her desk at Hansen Realty office, told KARE.

'Everybody knows Bruno. You may not know the people, but you'll know Bruno.

'He's a big deal here.'

Each afternoon, after a day of visits, Bruno heads back home to his owners

After crusing the streets each day, Bruno then takes to walk home to his owners, Debbie and Larry LaVallee, who said the dog came to them like a gift.

Bruno came to the LaVallees after someone walked up their driveway with the little puppy.

'He says, ''I found your dog at the end of your driveway'',' Larry told KARE.

'I says, ''Well he ain't my dog''.'

The LaVallees then decided to keep the pup. However they worked out very quickly he refused to be tied down and liked to wander around.

Bruno is so well-received that someone in town also created a Facebook page for the dog

Over the years they have become accustomed to people calling them from town, saying they have found Bruno.

The LaVellees then give the same reply each time - that Bruno always finds his way home.

'He's our buddy, we kind of watch out for him the best way we can,' Patrick Moran, who owns a real estate office on Bruno's route, told KARE.

'Last week he came in stayed about an hour and a half or two hours.'

'He's not just a dog. He's a spirit.'
