有鑑於美國奧蘭多發生同志夜店遭槍擊事件，當局今年特別加派警力維安。1名警員在攝政街執勤時，突然走到男友薩蒙斯（Jonathan Sammons）面前，單膝下跪求婚。薩蒙斯又驚又喜，欣然答應。兩人擁抱熱吻，群眾替他們歡呼。

The crowd cheered at the London Pride parade as a police officer broke rank to propose to his partner, who was watching the parade from the sidelines.9 h: a0 G4 Q/ _1 G- x# T5 a

The police officer was part of the parade when he quickly ran over to his partner after spotting him in the crowd, getting down on one knee in front everyone who had gathered to celebrate the day. The crowd began to cheer the couple after the officer's partner, Jonathan Sammons, said yes and the pair kissed.

Jonathan told ITV News that he had no idea what was going to happen, saying: "Speechless! Amazing! Oh my God, I can't believe he did it."5 B) B9 T9 P7 e

His partner revealed he had been planning to propose for a while, but hadn't originally planned to do it at the parade, saying: "it's been planned for a while but not like this."

The Met LGBT network Twitter account tweeted the good news, writing: "He said yes @LondonLGBTPride #policewithpride #ByYourSide."

Well-wishers were quick to congratulate the happy couple and praise the public proposal, with one person writing: "I grew up in 50's&60's where gay people had to hide. Now they can be open and full of Pride," while another wrote: "could you get any more…romantic? I'm welling up!"

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, also offered his congratulations to the couple, writing: "Congratulations!" and retweeting the photo.

Two police officers also got engaged later on the same day, and the Met LGBT network Twitter account shared a snap of one officer proposing while the other smiled, captioning the picture: "He said yes too." 3 g2 `- ]' \7 c" v
