SMRT offers up to S$3,000 reward under employee referral scheme

For each successful new hire under the company’s enhanced Employee Referral Scheme, each SMRT staff can stand to earn cash rewards of up to S$3,000

Cash rewards of up to S$3,000 will be handed out to SMRT staff for successful referrals under its enhanced employee referral scheme, SMRT Corporation announced on Monday (Dec 14).

The transport operator added that a total of 700 new hires are expected as it gears up for growth. At present, there are approximately 9,000 SMRT employees.

For each successful new hire under the company’s enhanced scheme, each SMRT staff can stand to earn cash rewards of up to S$3,000.

SMRT also rolled out sign-on bonuses of up to S$3,000 for Bus Captains, Rail Supervisors and Engineers. For job applicants successfully recruited as Rail Supervisors, it will earn the referrer S$1,500, while those successfully recruited as Engineers will earn the referrer S$3,000, it said.

According to the transport operator, successful referrals for those who join SMRT as Bus Captains/Bus Trainers are worth S$1,600. In addition to the cash incentive, these new hires may also receive a sign-on bonus of about S$2,000.

The sign-on bonus is valid from Dec 11, 2015 to Apr 1, 2016.

Mr Gerard Koh, SMRT’s Vice-President for Human Resources, said: 「As SMRT works to strengthen its maintenance and operations support for rail and bus services, it is critical that we reach out to fresh graduates from ITE, polytechnics and the universities, as well as mid-career professionals with not just the qualifications but also the passion to join SMRT as it transforms its network to serve commuters better.」

SMRT said its enhanced Employee Referral Scheme is designed to address demand for competitive positions such as Bus Captains.

SMRT企業（SMRT Corporation)上周五推出員工推薦計劃（Employee Referral Scheme），給成功招募一名應聘者加入該集團的地鐵和巴士業務，成為SMRT的巴士車長、地鐵督工和工程師的現有員工，一筆一次過多達3000元的「應聘花紅」（sign-on bonus）獎勵。

SMRT公司今早發表文告說，為了加強工作人員團隊的陣容，以及應付來自市場對巴士車長人才的競爭，如果一名在職員工成功介紹一個應徵者到SMRT擔任巴士車長、地鐵督工和工程師，員工就可以得到一筆3000元的花紅。

例如一名被成功錄用的地鐵督工，SMRT介紹人將可得到一筆1500元的花紅；而成功介紹一名工程師加入SMRT的在職SMRT員工可得3000元花紅。

值得一提的是，SMRT需要多徵聘700位新員工。SMRT目前已有9000名員工。

文告又說，這個計劃也是為了應付新抵達的地鐵列車，以及增加了的巴士服務在維修方面的需要。

SMRT人力資源副總裁許慶瑞說：「對SMRT來說，一支富有獻身精神和對工作投入的隊伍就是最好的宣傳，因為我們的員工就是公司最好的大使。」

他又說，SMRT必須招募工藝教育學院（ITE）、理工學院和大學的畢業生，還有中途轉業的專業人士，除了學歷資格之外，他們也需要對加入SMRT的團隊充滿熱忱，因為SMRT的服務網絡正在轉型，以更好的為搭客服務。
