新加坡建國總理李光耀的女兒，現任總理李顯龍的妹妹李瑋玲醫生，向來以「古怪」著稱。最近，她接受了《海峽時報》採訪，在訪談中，她拒絕拍照，自認是火星人，並說自己是一個古怪的人，而且會繼續古怪下去。
此次接受採訪，是為了配合她的新書《李瑋玲：一個客家女人的新加坡故事》（LEE WEI LING A Hakka Woman’s Singapore Stories）。
她自嘲說：「看看我，我是古怪的，而我要一直古怪下去，我想不出任何理由要順應所謂的正常標準。」（"Look at me, I'm eccentric," she says with a self-deprecating shrug. "And I want to continue being eccentric and I see no reason why I should conform to so-called normal standards."）
她表示喜歡人們在不知道自己的家庭背景的情況下，而真實地評判她，而不是因為她是李光耀的女兒而評判她。（"It's just irritation I would rather avoid. I'd rather have people judge me not knowing my family connections. Judge me as you find me, not judge me as LKY's daughter," says Dr Lee.）
李瑋玲是一個有自己觀點的人，不管對方是誰，不認同就是不認同，即使是自己的父親。（"I just disagree with what you say regardless of who you are. I mean, I don't need to agree with my father either."）她舉了一個例子，之前李光耀希望國人能夠把兩種語言掌握的一樣好，她就曾經公開「爭辯」，表示不認同。
她覺得做事情應該是「相信是正確的」才去做，而不是為了爭名或展示權力。（"You do something because it's right, not because you want fame or to show that you're powerful."）
她希望別人不是因為她的背景而簡單的同意她的觀點或做法，她看不起那樣的人。她鼓勵大家都能因為合理的理由而持有自己的觀點。（Of people who disagree with her, she says: "If you agree simply because of who I am, then I look down on you. You know, if you have a certain opinion, you must have reasons why you hold that opinion. And those would be valid reasons."）
作為一名醫生，在新加坡國立腦神經醫學院擔任高級顧問，李瑋玲覺得禁止器官買賣是不對的。（Dr Lee - who believes that banning organ trading is irrational and medically incorrect - says: "The Indonesian guy who was willing to sell his kidney may well have needed that money to prevent two daughters from going into prostitution for all we know."）
在交友方面，李瑋玲並不覺得因為自己是李光耀的女兒而變得更加困難，她也從來沒有被這件事困擾，並自嘲自己是火星人。她表示自己有足夠的可靠的朋友。（She does not think being her father's daughter has made it harder to cultivate friends. "I've never been much bothered by that. Like I said (in one of my columns), I was a Martian anyway. Even now. I have enough friends to count on all my fingers, and these are friends who really count. I know of a much bigger group of people who don't count on that score. But isn't that so for most people if they sit back and think carefully, 'which friend can I depend on when the crunch comes?'"）

在穿著打扮方面，李瑋玲有自己獨特的風格，喜歡穿運動短褲，如果需要出席穿裙子的場合，就把沙龍裙繞著圍起來扣好，就是一件裙子了。
在過去的12年里，李瑋玲為《海峽時報》寫過180篇文章和書信，涵蓋的話題十分廣泛，包括她的父親、公共衛生政策等，《海峽時報》編輯整理了其中的75篇，形成了新書《李瑋玲：一個客家女人的新加坡故事》（LEE WEI LING A Hakka Woman’s Singapore Stories），此書已經在全島各大書店開售，售價32新幣。
