The winter 2019 TV season isn』t quite over, but a blooming bunch of shows are just waiting to invade our screens for the spring season. While we』re still dodging snowflakes and cuddling up under a blanket on the couch, let’s look at TV series and stars who thrived during the cold months (「The Big Bang Theory」), along with others that suffered a big chill (Marvel series on Netflix).
Here are some of the Winter 2019 TV season winners and losers.

WINNER
"The Big Bang Theory」: Even in its twelfth and final season, the CBS powerhouse comedy keeps scoring big ratings. And apparently, some of its success has rubbed off. CBS announced that the spinoff, 「Young Sheldon,」 has been renewed for two more seasons, meaning it will return for a third and fourth season. Will Sheldon have grown a foot by then, or what?
LOSER
Netflix Marvel shows: Netflix had canceled 「Iron Fist,」 「Luke Cage,」 「Daredevil」 and recently axed 「Jessica Jones」 and 「The Punisher.」 Will the latter two live again? Disney owned the shows, and since the company is launching its own streaming service later this year, with plans to stream Marvel movies and TV shows, their future at Netflix didn』t look great. But that’s no guarantee that the ratings were strong enough to bring 「Jessica Jones」 and 「The Punisher」 back on the Disney streaming platform, since Netflix hasn't revealed much about viewership numbers.
WINNER
「Tidying Up With Marie Kondo」: The series featuring anti-clutter expert Marie Kondo must be sparking joy bigtime at Netflix. Everyone seems to have either watched the series, or is putting Kondo’s theories into play. Who knew a show so low-key would break out in such a big way?
LOSER

Jussie Smollett: Remember when Smollett was known for being one of the most interesting cast members on the Fox drama 「Empire?」 Those days are in the distant past after the series of events that began in early 2019.
First, Smollett, who is African American and openly gay, reported that he was the victim of an apparent hate crime in Chicago. As doubts began to arise, Smollett stood by his story. Then came reports that two brothers told Chicago police that Smollett planned the attack, and paid the brothers to participate in the hoax. Though Smollett has consistently declared his innocence, he has been charged with a felony disorderly conduct charge for allegedly filing a false report.
