歐冠賽場，曼聯即將迎來與本菲卡的較量。中場巨匠馬蒂奇透露他在本菲卡效力的情形。前教練赫蘇斯改變了他對比賽的看法。

接受曼聯電視採訪的時候，馬蒂奇談到了赫蘇斯對他的影響，讓他從一個具有進攻意識的發動機轉變為中場防守大師。
「我剛剛到本菲卡的時候，主教練赫蘇斯立刻告訴我，我將成為六號位或者是防守型中場，」馬蒂奇解釋說：「最開始的時候，我感覺奇怪，不確定能否勝任。但是，和球隊合練的過程中，主教練慢慢向我解釋該怎麼做。付出努力之後，現在我在曼聯，相信我做得很不錯！」
本賽季，馬蒂奇是曼聯陣中的關鍵人物。內馬尼亞承認，老東家在他心裡，仍然有特殊的意義。但是，這絲毫不會影響周四凌晨他為曼聯拼盡全力。
「那是一個特殊的球隊，我熱愛的俱樂部，」馬蒂奇說：「在本菲卡，我學習了很多關於足球的知識，學習如何應對效力豪門帶來的壓力，因為本菲卡是歐洲範圍內最出色的俱樂部之一。
「在我餘生，我會始終支持這支球隊，在我心裡總會給她留下一個溫暖的角落。但是，在歐冠賽場，我希望曼聯從本菲卡那裡拿到積分。」他笑著說。
本菲卡在歐冠前兩場小組賽中，先是主場1-2負於莫斯科中央陸軍，隨後0-5慘敗給巴塞爾，開局不利。即便如此，塞爾維亞人提醒紅魔不能掉以輕心。
「本菲卡以前是常勝將軍，看到他們最近的成績，我很驚訝，」馬蒂奇表示：「但是，他們仍然是一支勁旅，擁有很多出色的球員。我認為，每一位本菲卡球員都不好對付。
「當年我的隊友們，還有大概六七位在本菲卡踢球；此外有不少年輕球員，迫切想要證明自己的能力。我無法說出哪一位突出的個體，因為作為一個團隊，本菲卡很強大。」
Ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Benfica, midfield ace Nemanja Matic has revealed how his time in Lisbon with former Eagles coach Jorge Jesus helped him refine his game.
The Serbia international spent the better part of three seasons at Estadio da Luz from 2011 to 2014, in a period sandwiched between two spells at Chelsea.
During that stint in Lisbon, he became an important member of Jesus』 squad, and his three years at the club yielded 97 appearances in all competitions, one Player of the Year award, a league title and three domestic cup wins.
In an interview with MUTV, Matic spoke of how Jesus』 influence helped transform him from a forward-thinking playmaker, into the expert anchor-man he is today.
「When I first came to Benfica, the manager Jorge Jesus told me on my first day I would be playing as a no.6 or as a defensive midfielder,」 Matic explained. 「At the beginning, it was strange for me because I didn』t know I could play that position but, slowly, I trained with the team and the manager explained to me how to do it. And after a lot of hard work, now, I』m at Manchester United, so I must have done the job well!」
Matic, who has been an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s team this season, also admits his former club retains a special place in his heart, but it will not stop him giving his all for United on Wednesday.
「It’s a special club, a club that I love,」 said Matic. 「At Benfica, I learnt a lot about football and about the pressure of playing for a big club, because they are one of the best clubs in Europe.
「I will support them for the rest of my life and they will have a special place in my heart but, in the Champions League, I hope we can take points from them,」 he smiled.
The Eagles have begun their Champions League campaign in forgettable fashion, with a 2-1 home defeat to CSKA Moscow, before a 5-0 thumping away at Basel, but the Serbian star still feels they are a dangerous side.
「I was surprised because Benfica is a team who’s used to winning games,」 Matic stated. 「But they are a big club and they have good players, I think everyone there is hard to play against.
「There are six or seven players still there that played with me, and they have a few younger guys who want to show their quality, but I cannot mention any stand-outs because, as a team, they are really good.」
