檳城東北縣警區主任米爾助理總監透露向《星報》透露，拿督王德光是24黨的頭目，警方已經留意他和該黨一段日子。
而該黨也是警方監視的14個私會黨當中的其中一個，其成員涉嫌收保護費及非法放貸活動。
報道也提及，王德光與2011年一起謀殺案有關。當時，一名賣光碟的男子遭數名持巴冷刀男子殺害。

王德光生前曾因涉嫌一宗於5年前發生在檳島雙溪里蒙的一宗恐怖謀殺案，而被警方傳召協助調查。
一則刊登於2011年，有關警方呼籲5名男子現身協助查案的馬來報章剪報，近日在網絡上流傳，其中一人被人認出正是日前被保鏢槍殺的王德光。
有關剪報顯示，警方呼籲5名涉嫌與2011年6月21日發生在檳島雙溪里蒙一名男子被殺案有關的嫌犯現身，以協助警方調查。
米奧法立今日受詢時證實，有關謀殺案件是於2011年發生，當時警方在扣查7名嫌犯後，再次透過媒體報道，呼籲5名男子，包括王德光現身助查該案件。
「警方後來的確扣查王德光，助查該起謀殺案。」
他說，警方當時只是扣留對方助查，爾後也援引預防性法律，對王德光採取行動，惟他並沒說明是什麼性質的行動。
